This picture is terrible but it's a good depiction of how I feel in the morning, ha. This is a pre-coffee photo, and my eyes are obviously not yet adjusted to the light.

The shirt reads: "Another boring day in paradise ... Key West." It was a good find, although it was almost ruined at one point. I washed it with a green sweatshirt (another thrift store purchase, and one that I assumed had been washed many times before), and the sweatshirt bled all over my entire load of laundry. The yellow color of the shirt turned into a sort of puke green. Luckily, most of it washed out, but it still isn't as bright as it was originally. Still, salvaged.

Last weekend Mat and I did another Rock and Rummage in Toledo, Ohio. It was a good time, and if you get the chance to go to a Rock and Rummage, I highly recommend that you do. Check out the MySpace for more info: http://www.myspace.com/rockandrummage

I am the worst at blogging, I know. I'm hoping that the summer brings lots of good outfits and lots of opportunities for photos. I've been busy re-watching the first season of True Blood (ha) and haven't had much time for the computer.

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend; I ate a lot and did go to some thrift stores but only got a couple things.

Anyway, 1991 t-shirt for the second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (live action) movie:

This shirt was for sale for a little while but I decided to keep it for myself -- you snooze, you lose! It's pretty awesome and I like the TMNT movies more than I should probably admit.

What is up.

Today I wore this shirt:

Early '70s Fruit of the Loom gym class t-shirt. I really like the shade of green and it's soft as hell.

Only had to work a half-day today in honor of Memorial Day weekend. I'm hoping to get to some thrift stores Monday, but who knows.

After work, I stopped by a bike shop and then grabbed a cupcake at Just Baked:

I had no idea a cupcake bakery even existed near me until yesterday. Consider me a regular.

I'm in the process of fixing up a vintage Trek (and by fixing up I mean, I buy the parts and Mat and his friends do the work -- I don't know much about that end). The frame itself is gray but I'm going to outfit it with pink components -- pink tires, seat, chain, and crank. I already got the chain and crank, and I picked up the same grip tape that's on my Schwinn. I'm probably going to get some pink brake cables, too.

I can't wait to get it going, I'll be sure to post pics!

Rock and Rummage

Last Saturday, Mat and I participated in the Rock and Rummage 2nd annual Spring Cleaning Spectacular. There were 8 amazing vendors, + a DJ and ticket giveaways. It was a good time, and we were able to sell a lot of shirts. Here's some pics from the event, which took place at the Belmont in Hamtramck:

VAN SLAM '77.

I lucked out -- the only reason the shirt is mine is because it currently fits me better than him. If that ever changes, I have to give it back. The shirt is so ridiculously soft I can't even tell you, and I love the color. Oh yeah, and, VAN SLAM.

Worn with some '92 Nike Sonic Flights, also Mat's find. He's had them for awhile but I finally got to wear them out. I'll post some pics of the shoes later.

Again I have been neglecting! Mat and I were really busy setting up for Rock and Rummage this past weekend, which I will talk more about in a subsequent post. For now, I want to give you a treat -- you've earned it.

Here it is, an authentic vintage Beatles shirt circa 1980:

I was in pure shock when I found this shirt. I've seen remakes, sure, but an actual vintage Beatles t-shirt? Amazing. It's printed on a Hanes 50-50 tee, so you know it's good. I'm not even a big Beatles fan, but this shirt is so awesome.

You may also have noticed a new addition to my arm; perhaps I will most more about that later, too.

In the meantime, I hope everyone is having a good week. Go see Star Trek!

I'm sorry for neglecting the blog... I really am back! After this week, I should be able to post more. Here's a shirt I wore last week to go out to lunch with my work:

Mat actually found it, he has good taste. The front has a bunch of buttons so you can button it any way you like, and the collar folds over (should have taken a picture like this). I started off leaving a few buttons at the top undone, but then I buttoned it all the way. I'm not sure which why I prefer.

I love the back!

The best part is, it was only a quarter! And as far as lunch goes, it was delicious, and ended with a nice banana chocolate mousse. =)

So, more to come, hang in there! By the way, did anyone see Wolverine? Thoughts?

Bike Show

Sunday, Mat and I went to a bicycle show in Ann Arbor. We were hoping to come back with some new bikes, which unfortunately didn't happen, but we did score some new t-shirts.

This shirt is super comfortable:

His is even better, I'll try and get a picture. We also hit up the Value World out there and I found some good shirts, including a Detroit Tigers shirt and a 1985 Yngwie Malmsteen tour t-shirt. All in all, a good day.

I spotted a vintage purple Fuji last week at a different resale shop, but when I went to go pick it up, it was gone. I love my Schwinn, but I'm on the lookout for a second bike.

Look at that, two posts in two days! I am on a roll.

The weather is AMAZING, yesterday it hit 85 and right now it is 79. I went for a 2 hour bike ride this morning, and I think I made it about 25 miles. The weather was perfect and I felt amazing.

Last night Mat and I rode around a little bit (he was riding a Volkscycle) and ended up getting ice cream cones and Slurpees. It doesn't get much better than that, in my opinion. Since it was in the '80s, by the time we got back to his house we were drenched. I threw on these vintage Nike shorts:

I love 'em! Not to mention, I'm so happy that it's shorts weather. It was a long, long winter, and I'm glad it's over! Tomorrow we are going to check out a bike show/swap meet, and so I'm hoping to come home with a second bicycle... we'll see!

We haven't really been thrifting a lot lately, partly because we don't have the time and partly because we don't have the space for anything, but don't worry because I have lots and lots of items not yet on the blog.

I apologize for the lapse in posts. To be honest, I have been contemplating the future of this blog. I recently created an account on Tumblr and am considering merging this blog with that one. I just don't have the time for detailed posts, and so I like Tumblr's functionality. I'm still debating, but I have a feeling this blog will eventually become obsolete.

Spring is definitely on the way, and I could not be happier (although, living in Michigan, I know not to get my hopes up!). I cannot wait for bike rides and Slurpees/tall cans of Arizona Green Tea every day.

Since this blog is about clothing and not the weather, here is a 1980s Kings Island t-shirt:

I neglected this shirt for a little while but recently rediscovered it. I love the graphic! For those of you unfamiliar with Kings Island, it's a U.S. theme park (although I've never been there).

I hope everyone had a great St. Patrick's Day and is fully recovered.

One exciting bit of information: If you know me, you know that I do not yet have my driver's license. I hate driving, to be honest, and am just nervous to take the test. However, I FINALLY scheduled my road test, so I will be taking it on April 4. This is a big deal for me and for the people who will no longer have to chauffeur me everywhere, haha, so, yeah.

The parade was a lot of fun, although I may have had too much fun. I've had the Guinness shirt for a while now, but hadn't worn it yet. This seemed like the perfect occasion. The weather was BEAUTIFUL and should be again today!

We didn't do much else over the weekend. Mat made we watch a British movie called Severance; it's a horror film, but also a comedy so that's the only reason I could tolerate it. And it was pretty funny. I don't do so well with the blood and gore.

Tonight we will most likely watch The Boondock Saints like we do every year. What are your St. Patty's Day plans?

Snack Pack

I went for my first bike ride of the year today! After the weather we've been having in Michigan, 43 degrees feels like spring. Here's some AMAZING Nike spandex leggings.

Unfortunately, the right leg has a huuuuge run down the front. Maybe I can try stitching it up? =\ I'm not very advanced with a needle and thread, but my sister has a sewing machine. Regardless, I still wear 'em to ride in. (However, if I could get the hole fixed I'd possibly try and figure out how to wear them in public).

I realize they are somewhat see-through, but I wanted you to get the full effect of how awesome I look riding my bike, hahaha. This is what I wore, except I wore some gray capri sweatpants over the leggings, due to the weather. Now picture that getup with a pink helmet and pink faux Ray-Bans, and you can start to envision the radness (or wackness?).

Sorry for the lack of clothing posts lately, I haven't had much time at my computer. I have lots of photos, though, waiting to be posted.

Tomorrow Mat and I are going downtown for the Detroit St. Patrick's Day parade, so maybe I'll have some photos from that.

It is 50 degrees out right now and, compared to how the rest of the week has been, it feels effing amazing. With all the snow melted, I really do want to go for a bike ride, but for now I'll settle for this cycling-related t-shirt:

I love this shirt. The graphics are awesome, the colors are perfect, and it is unbelievably soft. Circa 1990.

I rode my bike constantly over the summer, and as soon as the weather starts to get consistently warmer, I can't wait to ride it again. It looks so sad and lonely sitting in my garage.

I mean, check this beauty out!

I have a different seat now, though (Fuji!), and so it looks even better. My bike is a former 10-speed 1970s Schwinn Sportabout turned single speed. I bought it off of eBay a few summers ago, and it is still in amazing condition. Some minor work has been done but overall it is a solid ride. I need to move somewhere warmer so I can ride my bike every day!

I have a few good bike jerseys I've found at thrift stores that I'm sure I'll get around to posting eventually, and Mat has an awesome collection of vintage jerseys, including a Nike cycling tank top.

I can't wait to go see Watchmen, hopefully Friday but for sure by Sunday. I haven't yet met my goal of finishing the book before I see the movie but maybe I can cram and get it done by the weekend. I just hope the movie lives up to its expectations, although I think if anyone can do it, it's Zack Snyder (although V for Vendetta was certainly another amazing Alan Moore adaptation, but I haven't read the graphic novel).

Happy Fat Tuesday! I was lucky growing up in that my parents weren't religious, so I never had to give up anything for lent. I was, however, all for a day celebrating gluttony, but, to be honest, that's pretty much an average day for me.

Today I wore an '80s Cedar Point shirt (if you aren't familiar with it, Cedar Point is an amusement park in Ohio).

The shirt is super soft. We actually own two of the same shirt, one of which is for sale, if you're interested. You can find the shirt on our MySpace (check the "Places of Interest" album). I believe both shirts are a Medium. Message us for more info.

I can't get over how rad this shirt is. It fits like a glove, is supersuper thin, and the graphic speaks for itself. I'm not even a huge Alice Cooper fan or anything (although my mom was at my age!), but as far as t-shirts go, this is one of my best finds. It's got a few small holes but, since I'm keeping it for myself, who cares.

I should also point out that the colors on the print are neon in real life. I am in serious love with this shirt.

Mat and I went thrifting today but unfortunately didn't have any good finds. There was this decent leather jacket,

but the price was ridiculous, and Mat's jacket collection is pretty well-stocked as is. I also found a fucking amazing LEATHER SKORT but unforch it didn't fit over my butt. Maybe next time.

We started our day by eating SONIC, which is a favorite pastime of mine (and an excellent hangover cure, if I might add).

Winter Blues

It is snowing like crazy right now and I am less than thrilled about it. Hopefully spring is just around the corner .... I miss riding my bike!

Anyway, here are two of the shirts I got in Lansing last Monday:

I'd been looking for a decent leopard cardigan for awhile, and I think I succeeded with this one. Not vintage, but for 3 bucks, you can't beat the price!

I tried to post this last night, but the program I was using to post from my iPhone seemed to stop working, so, here you go:

I also have to post this pic of Kate Beckinsale because now I need a leather dress in my life.

Amazing. I was hoping to do some thrifting today but the weather might alter my plans. We haven't been going that much lately because a, I barely have the room for new clothes and b, I'm trying to save my money for other things, but I can only hold out for so long!

If you like martial arts movies, or you like Ong Bak or The Protector, then definitely check out Chocolate.

It's basically about an autistic girl who eats M&M's and kicks ass. It's not very strong on plot points, but the fight scenes are great. Definitely check it out.

We also watched The Host last night,

which was pretty good, as well.

I got my laptop back today! The problem was in the display, so I didn't have to lose any data (thank goodness!). Also, luckily I was still under warranty, because I guess the cost to repair it would have been more than the cost of the computer. So, thank you to my parents for having the wisdom to purchase a 3-year warranty when they first got me this laptop. Everything picked up right where I left off. It feels so good to have it back =)

Anyway! Enough of my rambling about computers and onto the vintage. As aforementioned, Mat and I took a trip up to Lansing on Monday, and we made out pretty well. I got this sweatshirt:

'80s Sportswear, super comfortable and I love how the cuffs on the sleeves are a different color.

Our other finds included a '70s Coke shirt, a couple of '80s Cedar Point shirts (one that we already have--that's how you know you go thrifting too often/have too many clothes!), an '80s Michigan State hoodie, a sweet '80s sleeveless Florida shirt, a leopard cardigan, and, the best find of all, an AUTHENTIC vintage Alice Cooper ringer tee! Expect pictures of that one soon, it is too good to be true.

On the way back, we stopped at Tanger Outlets and I got these cute Nikes for only 25 bucks:

They are really pink in person. I love them!

Every time we go to Lansing, we have lunch at our favorite sushi place, Omi. When I was going to school at Michigan State, we ate at Omi every single weekend (and sometimes twice in a weekend!). Now that I'm back home, we start to go through withdrawals and make the trip every few months or so, going to thrift stores to make a day out of it. Let me just say, Omi is the BEST sushi restaurant, ever. We have tried numerous other restaurants but seriously, nothing compares. Their portions are right and the prices are cheap, but what really does it is the spicy sauce; we have yet to find a sauce as delicious as theirs. If you have any sushi recommendations, please share them, but if you are ever in the Lansing area, definitely go to Omi!

I should also mention that every time we go we eat ourselves silly, even when we were going every weekend. After a salad (their ginger dressing is also one of the best!), we each had a piece of eel:

That's two spicy California rolls on the left, and on the right, a red dragon roll (shrimp tempura roll with tuna and spicy sauce) and a tiger roll (spicy tuna with shrimp and eel). Uuughhh. I am drooling just looking at those pics. I could eat that meal for the rest of my life and be very, very happy.

This week is going by fast since I had Monday off, I can't believe tomorrow is already Thursday, and even better, pay day!

Here is my rad '80s Hawaiian Tropic long-sleeve shirt. This is probably my best long-sleeve shirt, it's so comfortable and worn-in.

Today Mat went with me to go see Coraline in 3D, which I highly enjoyed. I wish more of the movie had been in extreme 3D, but it was still really good.

Also, not vintage or thrifted but I scored a pair of Levi's 1966 remakes (skinnies) for 25 bucks, marked down from 100-plus!! Another pair of Levi's is absolutely the last thing I need, but who can resist that deal? Also... you can't go wrong with Levi's.

So luckily, my Dad just got a new computer and I can use his old desktop while my laptop is being repaired. It's weird though not having any of my programs, and I don't want to download too many things onto here, so I'll just have to make do. I also don't have any speakers!

In the meantime, thank goodness for programs like Picnik so I can at least crop photos while I am without Photoshop. I miss having Poladroid!

I really like scarves but I never know how to wear them. Friday I finally wore a scarf I've had for awhile now, and I think it worked out okay?

In my quest for nice work clothes, I scored this J. Crew blouse for less than a buck:

The shirt had a few stains, but they came right out with my Clorox Bleach Pen. If you like to wear white clothing, the bleach pen is a miracle worker. It's also great for getting stains out of thrifted clothing, which was the main reason I bought it.

I was looking for a nice ruffled blouse, and I found it!

If I could magically be granted 3 wishes, I think one would be that my parents and aunts and uncles never gave away their '70s wardrobes ... I know that both of my parents and at least some of my relatives had sweet style, as old family pictures prove. Of course they didn't think it'd be worth it to hang on to articles of clothing, even sweet Bob Seger tour shirts, but, I would LOVE to get my hands on that collection.

One of the few shirts my mom did keep (her and my dad had matching ones, actually) is this '70s Jose Cuervo long sleeve raglan.

I used to wear it all the time and then stopped for a little bit, but I pulled it back out the other day. I love the graphic on the back.

Another shirt my mom kept is an old MASH shirt that says "Hot Lips"--I'll have to dig that one out, too.

Today I dressed up somewhat nicer for work, wearing the cardigan I posted yesterday over a button-up shirt, but the basis of the outfit was this t-shirt,

an old tri-blend Jerzees pocket tee that is really comfortable and that I got for super cheap. I tried to take a picture of the whole ensemble, but it came out blurry every single time.

I was hoping to get to bed early tonight, but I just spent a good 20 minutes or so looking for a sweater that was in my dirty clothes hamper. I need to do laundry more often, I can't even remember the last time I actually wore the sweater. Anyway, the reason I was looking in the first place is, although I am VERY lucky in that my work does not have a dress code, I still feel like I should try and look presentable. I think I lasted two days before I showed up in a hoodie--what can I say, old habits die hard.

I bought this sweater a few weeks ago at a Salvation Army and finally wore it last week in an attempt to dress "nicer" for work. I really love it but I find it hard to match for some reason; it's sort of an off-white, and I am really weird about colors, particularly how certain jeans match certain shirts. I managed to make it work though.

The sweater is an old Hudson's brand, maybe late '70s?

I've been looking for nicer clothing at thrift stores so that I can slowly supplement my wardrobe. I did find one shirt that I'll post later this week.

Now I really do need to get to sleep, but I hope you had a great weekend! Feel free to tell me all about it.

Super Bowl

Right now I'm selling an old 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers jersey on eBay. The jersey is Champion brand. It's a really nice shirt and fits me well, but I'm not a huge NFL fan and figured I'd pass it on to someone who is, especially with the Steelers being in the Superbowl.

I've been neglecting to take pictures of my outfits lately, but luckily I have some extra pics saved up on my computer for just this occasion. Here is a rad leather vest that I have yet to wear out in public:

I don't think I'd ever wear it buttoned up like that, but I just wanted to show how it looks.

I bought the vest to wear in the summer, but, what do you think? Does it work over a hoodie?

I had a nice, long weekend. I keep thinking it's Sunday today, since I had the day off. On Sunday, Mat and I pretty much stayed in his bed all day watching movies. We watched about 4 movies in 24 hours (Hot Fuzz, The Baxter, Shinobi: Heart Under Blade, and Ocean's Eleven) and ate Cheesy Taco Pizza Rolls (the best pizza rolls) and other junk. The perfect Sunday.

For it, I wore this shirt all day, which is actually Mat's:

It's an '87 motocross t-shirt. The same graphic is also on the back.

Today, we did some thrifting and ate Mexican food and then watched The Return of the Jedi. I wore this sweatshirt,

which is actually an '80s Le Tigre-brand sweatshirt. When you think about the shirts Le Tigre makes today, you can see why I had to buy this sweatshirt, even though it's a bit ill-fitting. I love it all the same. They just don't make 'em like they used to!

It was an ungodly -13 degrees today, and since Mat is sick, I'm spending my Friday night bundled up in comfy clothes and with hot chocolate.

Here's what I wore to work the other day:

Vintage striped t-shirt. I like it because it's really long.

And here's what I'm wearing now (plus a sweatshirt!):

I'm guessing this jersey is from 1987, judging by the '87 on the sleeve. Brand is Bantams. I've actually had this shirt for a while now, but this is the first time I tried it on, and I'm surprised by how well it fits.

This week was my first week of working full-time! I love my job and I am so happy. I'm still relieved that it's the weekend, though! What's your weekend plans?

The Future is Now

I have no explanation, but Saturday night I felt like wearing my tuxedo t-shirt. It's a real tuxedo shirt from 1980, not a remake, so that makes it okay.

I started a new job today, in my desired field; no more food service for me! It's weird, but I feel like my life is finally starting... like everything else (school, etc.) was just preparation for a future that is now taking place. All through college I felt like I was waiting for something else to begin, but now it is finally here. I hope I can realize that this is my life and enjoy it to the fullest. "Growing up" has brought its share of problems, but I feel like I can finally start to relax and just, well, live my life.

There is so much snow here in Michigan. It snowed all night and is now snowing all day. The snow is probably the reason I sat around the house all day yesterday in this sweatshirt:

I'm pretty sure you can find this shirt in any form at any thrift store. I've seen the tank top, plain tee, and I own the ringer tee. I tried to find the screen cap of John C. Reilly wearing it in Step Brothers, but I failed. Whatever though, this shirt is pretty comfortable and compared to Michigan weather, I'm sure it is better in the Bahamas.

808s & Heartbreak

For a long time I stopped following new music, but lately I've been listening to MGMT, the new Killers' album, Girl Talk, and Kayne's 808s & Heartbreak nonstop. Any other suggestions?

Yesterday I wore a long-sleeve camo pocket tee (recent purchase) over the most perfect gray t-shirt, ever. It's so unbelievably soft. '80s Sears brand.

I also listed a few new things in the Etsy shop recently:

1989 Rolling Stones tour t-shirt. It's not '70s Stones, sure, but it's still a pretty sweet shirt.

'80s sailor-style sweater. It's really pretty neat. Just excuse my face in that photo. Oh, and take a peek at my new leggings!

I'm going to try and do a massive Etsy update today and over the weekend. Monday I start working full time! I no longer work at Target. Instead, I am going to be an editorial intern for Cengage Learning, a publishing company here in Michigan. This is what I went to school for and what I want to do, so I am very, very excited. However, I am going to have less free time than I have grown accustomed to, so I want to get as many things up on Etsy as I can.

My main goal for this week is to clean my room, which needs it badly. I'll post before/after pics when I'm done, so you can see how much of a disaster it has been. My room is also the "Thrifty Outfitters warehouse," so it's filled with clothes and totes and mess. I've been too busy to organize, but since I have nothing to do this week, I guess it's time to get to it! So here is my, "I'm eventually going to get off the computer and clean all day" outfit:

I'm taking the easy way out today. The only thing vintage/thrifted in my outfit is my necklace,

but it's a pretty great necklace, and so I hope that makes up for it. I'm really tired today, and tired means lazy. Here's a closeup of the owl:

I am so, so excited. I can't wait to wear them!

I've been wearing newer clothing the past few days, but the shirt I wore today was thrifted:

It's really, really soft--perfect for a Sunday. I also finally got lenses put in my glasses! They came in today, so I picked them up and wore them out. It's always weird getting new glasses and adjusting to the prescription, but this was even stranger, due to the size of the lenses. I'm getting used to them, though, and I love them, even though I look a lot like I did in elementary school! (Read: Dork)

Hello! I hope everyone had a fantastic New Year! I can't believe it's 2009. I'll have graduated high school 5 years ago this June. It's such a strange feeling! I still feel really young most of the time.

So, needless to say, I was THRILLED to find this bad boy waiting for me at Value World on Sunday:

It's from 1992 but awesome. I love it.

I can only say that I am insanely jealous and soon will have my own iPhone. His shirt is sweet, too, from the 1970s.

I also picked up a few other items the day I got the Lakers shirt, and I am sure I will post them soon. Mat managed to find a pair of Frye cowboy boots! Frye boots are my dream thrift store find. Unfortunately, they are his size, not mine. There are a few other things that top my list of dream finds, items that I would keep no matter how much I could get for them. That list includes:

AC/DC Tour shirt (1980s or older)
Prince Tour shirt ('80s)
David Bowie shirt ('80s or older)
Social Distortion t-shirt ('80s or older)
Queen t-shirt ('80s or older)

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and got everything you wanted. My Christmas was very laid-back; I split my time between my house and Mat's. I normally don't get dolled up for Christmas, so I just wore a sweater and some jeans.

I bought this MSU sweater forever ago, but this is the first time I wore it! It isn't my usual style, but it fits really well.

Mat wore a vintage Pony t-shirt.

We pretty much just hung around all day and ate a lot. I still wake up early on Christmas morning. We also watched The Nightmare Before Christmas, because I had never seen it.

Merry Christmas Eve, y'all!

I had to work all day today, so I'm tired and am looking forward to relaxing, but I wanted to share what I'm wearing tonight:

A 1981 t-shirt that reads "Sneaky Peat." I think it was for a band?

I kind of hated this sweatshirt for a while because it dyed some of my favorite shirts green, but, it is super soft and holiday appropriate.

And since I'm baking cupcakes (Holiday Funfetti!), here is my beloved apron and one of my favorite thrift store finds:

It says, "For THIS I spent 4 years in college??"

You also get a nice glimpse at my holiday outfit, haha.

That's all for now. My family is waiting for me to start watching Christmas Vacation. We've watched it every Christmas Eve, without fail, for as long as I can remember. Do you guys have any holiday rituals?

I cannot believe Christmas is this week! I'm still not done shopping. After Christmas, Mat and I have a 50% coupon to use at Value World, which we got for spending over $20 last week. So, hopefully we can put that to good use!

Here's what I wore when I finally started my Christmas shopping this past Thursday:

This amazing '80s Batman tee, which is unfortunately distorted here by my camera. (In case you haven't caught on yet, I love all things Batman.)

I layered up with this Woolrich vest that I got last week. Mat found it but passed it on to me. He has the exact same vest in navy blue. I love the sheep on the back, and there are also sheep on the buttons!

The color is perfect, and the vest is so warm. It feels like I'm wearing a giant pillow.

To our Rock and Rummage event on Friday, I wore one of my all-time favorite t-shirts:

The bottom reads, "Jamaica, One Love." It is so soft and thin, and it cheers me up every time I wear it.

I also got around to organizing some of my closet, which for the most part is a disaster zone.

That isn't everything, but it is the bulk of my t-shirt collection. You can see why I need to sell things--I just don't have the space to keep them all!

I have the day off today, and I've been taking full advantage of it, which is why it's 3 p.m. and I'm still in my pajamas. I guess it's time to get moving, but tell me all about your weekend!

Somehow I never get anything done that I want to do, no matter how much time I have to do it. Oh, well. I have the day off tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get around to posting some more things.

Here is what I wore Sunday night:

Good long-sleeve t-shirts are hard to find. This one is nice and thin, and I like the graphic.

I also wore what is quite possibly the greatest shirt ever ....

Yep, that's my boyfriend's face! He screen printed it for me on a vintage purple Screen Stars tee. The white comes off a little Santa-y, but in truth, it is a spitting image.

Monday I wore a pink and gray baseball tee that I picked up back when we went to Lansing:

It is so soft and fits really well. On Monday we did a ton of thrifting, which is what I keep meaning to post, and also ate SONIC! Mmm, cheesy tots... and cherry limeade, always.

Yesterday, I had to work, but underneath my work clothes I wore this amazing Pegasus shirt that I got on Monday:

It isn't old, but it is awesome. It's thrifted, but is pretty much brand new!

Today I'm wearing an MSU shirt I found last week:

Sorry again for my crappy, crappy camera. The shirt isn't so spectacular, either, but you really can't go wrong with anything Michigan State! The shirt is from the '80s.

AND on that same day I got these awesome shades,

which I forgot about until I pulled out the shirt. The amount of clothing in plastic bags covering my floor right now is straight-up ridiculous.

One last thing:

I've been busy lately, which is both good and bad. The weekends especially have been extra crazy, leaving me no time to blog. To make up for it, this week will be full of picture-heavy posts!

Friday night I went to a formal dinner at a friend's house, which gave me the perfect excuse to wear my long-sleeve sequin shirt. I know I posted it a while back, but here is the shirt in full effect:

It is more silver in person. I also considered another outfit, but rejected it due to the cold weather:

The skirt is the vintage item. I just picked it up recently. I can barely move in it, but I love it! Here is a close-up:

It looks almost plastic-y, but feels like crushed velvet. I also got an amazing leather skirt yesterday that I will post soon!

Saturday night Mat and I did a Rock and Rummage event in Wyandotte, where I wore another recent purchase--a Christmas sweater:

This normally isn't my style but I really love this cute little sweater. I think it's because the fit is nice and slim, not like most Christmas sweaters you find at a thrift store.

Lastly, here is an item I picked up recently to be put in our Etsy shop:

I apologize for the crappy quality--I need a new digital camera (hear that, Santa?). This is a black blazer with gold stripes and gold buttons. It's perfect for the holidays!

I dropped about $40 yesterday at thrift stores (when I should be Christmas shopping), which got me a ton of new things, both for the shop and for my closet. I'll be posting all the new items on my blog this week before they go up for sale. Mat and I are also doing another Rock and Rummage event this Friday, and I'll post all the details for that tomorrow, so be sure and check back!

Stripes

Today I'm wearing a late '80s/possibly early '90s striped shirt I picked up the other day at a thrift store, still with the original tags!

You can't really see in the picture, but there are three buttons on the left shoulder.

I also want to start sharing every now and then thrifted pieces I have previously sold. There is one jacket in particular that I sold soon after I bought it, but lately I have been regretting that decision. At the time, I didn't think I'd ever wear it, but I see now that I was so, so wrong. I regret not having a better picture!

I only have a picture of the front,

but the back is what made the jacket! The back had a large image of a silver, glittery unicorn. It was ... amazing. That jacket is one of the few items I regret ever selling.

I'll post more previous sales soon, as well as outfits.

On a side note, does anyone else love Pineapple Express? James Franco has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance as best actor in a comedy/musical. I find that to be hilarious and also well-deserved. Other great nominations are In Bruges for best comedy and both Tom Cruise and Robert Downey Jr. for Tropic Thunder (although I favor the latter!).

Well, I'm going to go enjoy the rest of my day off. I'm glad it's almost the weekend!

Whew! I have been a negligent blogger. When I started this blog I was unemployed, but lately I've been working an inconsistent schedule that hasn't left me much time to blog. Hopefully this will soon change, but for now, here I am!

This weekend was very, very busy. Saturday Mat and I had Rock and Rummage, which went incredibly well. However, I didn't get to bed until 3:30 a.m. and had to be back up at 5 to be at work by 6 for an eight-hour shift. Needless to say, that was a fun day. Once I was off, I pretty much slept until it was time to go to bed, when I slept some more.

Monday was spent thrifting and doing other errands, and also eating some fantastic mall sushi--two words that usually don't go together, I know! It was a pleasant surprise, so if you are ever out at Twelve Oaks Mall, definitely check out the Sushi Cafe.

Romper Stomper

I think it's the weather getting me down, but I had the urge to wear something floral today, which is an unusual move for me and the reason I hardly own anything with a floral print. Lucky for me, I just bought this romper the other day, and I decided I didn't have to wait until the summer to rock it:

My problem is, it's 22 degrees outside, and while I have the bottom covered, I'm not sure what to wear on top. I need a long-sleeved black cardigan, but have yet to find the right one. I settled on this,

but I'm not too sure if it will keep me warm enough all day. I'm not even sure if I like how it looks.
Thoughts?

No matter how many times I took it, the second picture kept coming out blurry! Also, in the past week I have bought this romper and 3 tank tops; winter is obviously not my favorite season.

Anyway, there is a chance I'll end up changing later in the day into a t-shirt, and if I do, then expect another post! Haha.

This weekend is going to involve not enough sleep. Mat and I have Rock and Rummage tomorrow night (see previous post!) and if you live in the area, we'd really love to see you there! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello! I'm going to apologize in advance for a slightly boring post today. I was hoping to take pictures of some recent purchases, but I ended up being too lazy to do so. Hopefully tomorrow!

It's been a few days! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I've been busy working and whatnot, but this week I work nights and hope to get more done during the day!

Here's what I've been wearing the past few days:

I couldn't believe it when I found this shirt. It is great.

Yesterday Mat and I headed out to Lansing for some sushi and thrifting! We only ended up making it to one thrift store due to bad weather, but it was still a successful trip. I think I got about 11 things? I had hoped to find good things for the shop, but I think I ended up spending more on myself, which tends to happen all too often. Mat found a Big "E" Levi's short-sleeve western! They stopped using the big "E" in 1971, so shirts with the big "E" tag are pretty rare. That was the first one we've found!

The best sushi place ever is in Lansing, too, so it's worth the trip.

I hope everyone has a great day of eating and relaxing! Those are my plans, anyway. Possibly some Wii action. In the mean time....

I wore this shirt on Tuesday. It's a thermal Harley Davidson shirt. The sleeves are a little short but overall it fits pretty well, and the graphic on the back is sweet.

Also on Tuesday, Mat and I went out to a Value World, where I found this little number:

Help me decide what to do with this! I originally bought it to sell but, having tried it on, now I want to keep it! The fit is amazing. It was hard to photograph due to the flash, but the picture on the left is more accurate--it comes off more silver than black. The problem is, I just don't have anywhere to wear it, so maybe I should pass it on to someone who can make good use of it. It's just so fabulous, I don't want to let it go!

This shirt, however, is going up for sale in our shop:

This post is a bit overdue, but now it's time to catch up!
Here are some outfits from the weekend:

This is what I wore Saturday while watching the MSU game. If you know the outcome of the game, then you know that's all I have to say about that! I also have a white t-shirt with the exact same graphic.

When going out Saturday night, Mat wore one of the many westerns he purchased last week:

He also brought out a shirt that has been in retirement for quite some time:

Mat used to wear this shirt all the time, so much so that it is completely see-through and full of holes. It is still an amazing shirt.

Sunday, I went to see TWILIGHT and wore this sweatshirt:

It's an '80s Remington Guns crew neck. It is so unbelievably soft and I love the graphic!

Speaking of Twilight, did anyone else see it this weekend? Thoughts? I, for one, was very pleased, and I thought they stuck pretty close to the book. But I know others have had different opinions. Feel free to share! Or your thoughts on the True Blood season finale... I was not happy about the ending!

I realize most 22-year-olds probably don't dress like little old ladies on the weekend, but I guess I am an exception.

First, though, my t-shirt for today:

As an MSU fan, I wouldn't normally wear a Michigan shirt, and I certainly wouldn't post it for all to see! But I actually want Michigan to win their game tomorrow, and so I am wearing this shirt. In general though, this shirt is super comfortable and good for a night of relaxing. It's an '80s Champion brand t-shirt and is super thin. When it comes to t-shirts, the thinner, the better.

Since it's late November in Michigan, and since I am always cold, I can't get by with just a t-shirt, so I'm wearing this sweatshirt:

I feel like a granny in this sweatshirt. I'm in a weird mood today though, and something about the graphic cheers me up. I probably own too many crew neck sweatshirts for my own good.

The only thing that could make this outfit better is my new glasses. I ordered some frames on Etsy awhile ago but haven't been able to afford lenses. Hopefully I'll be able to buy some soon now that I am working again. In the meantime, I'll just pretend:

I think I say this far too much, but here is another one of my favorite shirts:

It's so soft, and I love the color blue! It's from the '70s, Myrtle Beach (South Carolina). It's helping me to think warm thoughts on a cold day.

As promised, here are two finds from Monday's thrifting excursion, both of which will soon be up in our Etsy shop. First, this super cute yellow blouse:

It's from the '70s and is 100% polyester. I love the tie at the neck!

Second, I found this AMAZING tuxedo jacket. It could be worn by a guy or would also make a great coat for a lady, especially for holiday parties! I love the brocade pattern. This jacket is likely from the early '70s.

I've been feeling down lately, I think just from financial stress. These songs, however, are helping me out:

Yesterday's thrifting excursion was a rousing success. I picked up some items for myself and some for the shop. (Look for those tomorrow!)

Here's what I wore out:

A 1970s San Diego Chargers t-shirt. I will admit right now, I watch The Girls Next Door on E!, and Kendra is my favorite, so I was pretty happy when I found this shirt. Regardless of that, though, this shirt is pretty amazing. It's also a Champion blue bar,

meaning it has the Champion "blue bar" tag. Blue bar shirts are pretty valuable, especially old football jerseys.

Mat wore a blue western embroidered with white roses:

He also found at least ten westerns yesterday, all in amazing condition. Sadly, he couldn't buy them all, but he did pick up about half.

I also wore this hat:

I have a scarf to match, but I'll save that for another post. It's a knit grey beanie that reads "Property of Michigan State" and has a pom pom on the top. I collect vintage Michigan State apparel and have a pretty decent collection, so expect to see more MSU items popping up in this blog.

Weekend Recap

Here is the My Daily Vintage: Weekend Edition!

First, let me introduce the new face on my blog: my boyfriend, Mat.

Here's what Mat wore out Saturday. It's a pretty nice v-neck and has three stripes on each sleeve. We aren't sure of the brand, but the shirt is from the '70s.

What really makes the outfit, though, is his belt:

I can't even tell you how jealous I am of this belt. Had I beat him to it, it would have been mine. But it does look better on him. The Budweiser logo alternates with the text.

Sunday, Mat bought Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe for his PS3, and since we pretty much played it all day, we dressed for comfort (and slight hangovers).

1984 Detroit Tigers American League Champs t-shirt.

Batman t-shirt.

The Batman shirt is from a Taco Bell promo for the Michael Keaton Batman that came out in 1989. It's still in amazing condition. I was obviously repping for my favorite DC character. Which, can I just say, that game is so fun. Rent it if you have the chance or like fighting games. The graphics are amazing and the fighting is really fluid. It's pretty sweet.

Today we are heading out to some thrift stores, so hopefully I'll have some good finds to post this week. I am also on a mission for some cheap khakis, because I finally got a job!

For those of you who don't me, here's a quick back story:

I graduated from Michigan State in May with my B.A. in Professional Writing. Ideally, I want to get into book publishing and become an editor. Unfortunately, my job search hasn't been going anywhere. Since I'm pretty much out of money, and I have to start paying back my student loans next month, I've been applying everywhere. I finally got hired to work at a Starbucks at Target. It's seasonal for now, but hopefully I can stay on, and even if I can't, at least it's money for the holidays. Eventually I hope to get to San Francisco and break into publishing, but for the time being, I'm happy to work anywhere.

Well, that's about all for me. How was your weekend?

Don't Just Stand There, Hug Me!

Normally on Saturdays I'm decked out in Michigan State attire (alma mater!), but since there was no football game today, I changed things up a bit and wore this:

There really is no good reason for why I own this shirt. I just like it, and it's probably one of the most comfortable t-shirts I have. It's super soft and thin, and it just makes me feel good, which is nice on a rainy day like today. Shirt is from the '80s and the brand is Royal.

I'm also wearing this belt, which I thrifted:

It's brown leather with red roses.

I really love this belt, but I can't shake the problem I have of wearing a brown belt with black shoes. I tend to just throw on my black Adidas Dragons every time I'm heading out the door, and so I fall back on a plain white belt. I'm trying to wear this belt more, though. It really is beautiful in person, so sorry for the crappy picture quality!

I couldn't wait to open the box. They turned out beautifully:

If you aren't familiar with MOO printing, you should definitely check them out. They print business cards, note cards, greeting cards, etc. What's great about them is that you can use a different graphic or design on each one for no additional cost. Not to mention, they are full color and printed on high-quality paper. I am very pleased with the results and can't wait to start handing these out!

I'm not feeling very well today, but I'm determined to keep up with my posts, so here goes!

It's rainy and grey here today, so I'm gravitating toward clothes that are comfortable and warm. I'm wearing an '80s Jerzees Daytona Beach t-shirt, which is somewhat generic but extremely soft and the perfect color grey. It's keeping me cozy under my sweater.

I am also wearing my new snake belt:

This belt is awesome. I couldn't pass it up. My only concern is that it will fall apart on me; I can tell it has been worn frequently in the past, and the leather is wearing thin. However, I'm going to try and get as much use out of it as I can!

Speaking of belts, here is one that will be put up in my Etsy shop:

Though probably more appropriate for yesterday's sequin-oriented post, this belt is fabulous. It has hook/eye style closures in the back and would look great with a cute dress or for a night out.

Another accessory that will be soon be in the shop is:

The Scardigan.

What is a scardigan? Pretty much exactly as it sounds: a cross between a scarf and a cardigan. This little number acts as a scarf, but buttons up the front and also has two front pockets.

Sequins

Today I'm wearing a vintage hoodie I picked up this week.

It's light yellow and reads "Tobermory, Canada."

It's pretty hard to find decent vintage hoodies, so I'm happy with this one! It's super comfortable, and, though the sleeves are a little short, it fits me well.

Since my outfit is less than inspiring, I thought I'd post some of my favorite vintage items that I seldom get the chance to wear. Let me start by saying that when I am in a store, if something is glittery, shiny, sequined, or just plain outrageous, I am drawn to it. Most of the time I have to suppress my urges, because no matter how amazing the item might be, chances are I just won't wear it. I'm hoping this changes in the future, but for now, my sequin collection is limited. There is, however, one shirt that I refused to give up on:

This little number. It is amazing. I don't even mind the shoulder pads. I have yet to wear it out in public, but I know the day will come!

I also have a matching sequin bag that I scored for 75% off of the already cheap price.

I love this bag almost as much as the shirt, but again, I rarely use it. I think I should just start bringing it everywhere I go. Some of the sequins are falling off toward the bottom, but it isn't too noticeable. It's a great bag with lots of space and lots of pockets.

My favorite item of this post though, is my 1960s coat.

I am in love with this coat. It makes me feel like royalty every time I wear it and transports me to another time, when glamour reigned supreme. However, I feel funny wearing such a beautiful coat with dirty jeans, and so it spends more time in my closet than outside.

Maybe I will make a New Year's resolution to put some of my "less practical" pieces into full effect. I think that sounds good.

On a side note, these:

are incredible. If you like s'mores, you have to find these. But beware--they are highly addicting!

Introductory Post

Welcome to my blog!

Even though the purpose of this blog can be found in my "About Me" section, I still feel obliged to make a post introducing myself and my blog.

I am a 22 year old with a passion--more like an obsession, really--for vintage and thrift store shopping.

My collection is such that I have started selling vintage clothing to help purge it. It doesn't help that my boyfriend is as vintage-crazy as I am; in fact, he got me into the whole business, not to mention that he actually has more clothes than I do.

All the same, I love going to thrift stores, and hope to use this blog to share my vintage collection. Though the majority of the posts will feature vintage items, there will be the occasional new item, too. However, at least one aspect of my outfit will have been thrifted, new or old!

So, onto the vintage!

The shirt I'm wearing today isn't vintage, but it was thrifted, and for $0.50, who can resist a Volkswagen t-shirt?

Another element of my outfit today is this amazing plaid jacket:

Words cannot express my love for this jacket. It's a wool Pendleton and is from the 1970s. One of the buttons fell off, and I have been too lazy to sew it back on, but it doesn't matter,
I still love this jacket.

Lastly, I found two dresses yesterday that will be up for sale in my Etsy shop.

Dress One:

This dress is so cute! It's from the '70s and is 100% polyester.
I love the bell sleeves.

Dress Two:

This dress fits me so well I am almost sad to let it go. It is most likely from the early '80s, judging by the union tag. I love the sheer sleeves and detail on the front:

It's actually the dark navy in the first picture, not the lighter blue that shows up here. I'm a bit overdue for a new digital camera!
